Filming will take place from late March to early April and will require one block of approx. 1-2 hours.

To be considered, you can email ryan.macdowell@mcgill.ca and simply state your interest!

Now, it is not the custom to see a woman in the epilogue. So I will perform no epilogue, but leave you hanging. Sorry!

3. Philoktetes Original Translation

I don’t really know how to pronounce this word so it’s a super good thing that you cannot actually hear me when I try. I am also a terrible speller, so it’s a really great thing that spellcheck exists!

But I digress…

The Classics Department is putting on the original translation of Philoktetes! The titular character, rumour has it, was a greek god, archer, and has had four plays written about him. Pretty cool dude!

WORKSHOP - TNC and Players' Stage Management and Tech Workshop

Players Theatre and TNC are teaming up talk tech!!!

The purpose of this evening is to provide a meet and greet for anyone interested in learning how to get started in stage management. A lot goes into making a show run smoothly and a stage managers job is (almost) never done. We will have several experience stage managers present to share their stories and experiences and talk shop about the challenges and rewards of running a show.

Check the link and give us your thoughts!

Stage management is definitely a lot of work but it is also a very rewarding experience and we hope that everyone who attends is able to learn a bit more about how they can get involved backstage within the McGill Theatre community!

Check us out on FACEBOOK and see you there!

1. TNC Presents Hosanna

Hosanna is a drag queen from another era, long before Gender Identity Disorder was removed from the DSM (oh wait...), unsure about her queerness, her place in the demi-monde of Montreal, and the roles she must play with her husband Cuirette. Hosanna's story is that of an individual in a constant state of self-fashioning, fluctuating between poles of existence in an attempt to land on the naked truth of who they "really" are. But it's a love story too, and follows, over the course of a single fateful Halloween evening in 1973, two queers who seem to have the immense power to inspire change in each other.

VDAY McGill Seeks Director for Vagina Monologues 2013!

A message from VDay

Hope everyone is having a great start to their fall semester and enjoying the sunshine before the winter months ahead. If you are dreading the impending snow, one thing to look forward to is yet another fabulous production of The Vagina Monologues in February. The coordinators are already preparing for this annual event, and we are currently looking for a director!

Here is a little bit about McGill's VDay community. VDay is a global organization that mobilizes projects to end gender-based violence. Our university's chapter annually produces benefit performances of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues as well as other creative events. The money raised is given to groups within Montreal who work to end this violence in our city's community.

If you are interested in becoming a more involved part of this worthwhile organization, we encourage you to apply to the position of director for this academic year's production. Please email a cover letter and C.V. to our producer at producer.vdaymcgill@gmail. com. The deadline for applications is October 5. In this role, you could have an amazing opportunity to shape the way VDay's important message reaches our community.

Extra Info

For more info you can check out their Facebook event! This is such an awesome opportunity and to get you in the mind set, here is a little inspiration: Suddenly, My Body!

LISTSERV - People of Theatre

Dear lovely readers,

Today's LISTSERV is brought to you by a lack of creativity and need for sleep :)

1. TNC Presents “Private View” … in a week

2. Call for Submissions for ArteHecho Número Uno

3. Call for Many Helpful People for “Timon of Athens”

4. Auditions for “Macbeth”

1. TNC Presents “Private View” … in a week

As your stomachs slowly shrink back from the copious amounts of sleep inducing turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and sweet potato pie (I know – what? Take it up with my Mum) you will most definitely require other people to take over your indulgences.

Join Vanek as Michael and Vera take him through their newly renovated home. As they struggle to deal with the “nasty predicament” that is the political climate at the time, the characters cope through food, sex, and the ever-cathartic sauna. The only pleasure available to the characters, and their masked counterparts, is in finding the way to make the stage to which they are contained as beautiful as possible!

The show will run from October 10th-13th and 17th-20th! The box office opens at 7:00pm and the show begins at 8:00pm. Email the lovely Julie at tnc.foh@gmail.com to reserve! Tickets cost approximately a Grande Pumpkin Spice Soy Latte ($6) for students – unfortunately you cannot redeem your Starbucks gift card…

For more info, check out the Facebook event!

2. Call for Submissions for ArteHecho Número Uno

Are you in need of an artistic outlet? Need an opportunity to productively procrastinate before your midterm? Sign up to perform or to submit work for TNC’s ArteHecho Número Uno!

We have musicians and poets alike that are looking to be joined by visual and dramatic artists! For questions or to sign up to participate, please get in touch with (the lovely) Maddie and (the equally lovely) Harrison at tnc.artifact@gmail.com!

3. Call for Many Helpful People for “Timon of Athens”

Timon of Athens, one of Shakespeare and Middleton’s problem plays*, is looking for people to solve ALL THEIR PROBLEMS – meaning they would love to hear from any and all painters, props, and makeup artists that would like to be involved.

If you are interested, please email David Costello, the most calendrically competent person I have ever met, at Costello.davidj@gmail.com.

*Problem plays: kind of like a problem child, but one that cannot be fixed through a parenting book that can be found in a self help section.

4. Auditions for “Macbeth”

This February (and the first two days of March) Players’ Theatre will be hosting Shakespeare’s Macbeth!

As Lady Mac says, “Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under it.” I am not sure how that will translate into your auditions but you should sign up (on the drama board in the Arts Building) anyways. Dates include:

Tuesday, October 9 from 8-10pm

LISTSERV - Do you know what TNC stands for?

Good evening, good evening! Its great to stay up late! Good evening, good evening to you!

This evenings Listserv is brought to you by the Number Two (oooh oooohhh oooh)! I have two pleas for assistance as well as two shout-outs:

1. Call for Costume and Makeup Designers for TNC’s “Timon of Athens”

2. Call for Submissions to ArteHecho Número Uno

3. TNC (will be) Present(ing)s “Private View”

4. Player’s Theatre Presents “Waiting for Godot”

1. Call for Costume and Makeup Designers for TNC’s “Timon of Athens”

TNC’s November production is kicking it old school with the Bard and friends in their production of The Life of Timon of Athens. As it would be breaking some (un)official theatre rules to have the cast appear entirely naked, they are putting it out to you!

If you are interested in clothing people in a theatrical manner, please get in touch with David Costello, stage manager extraordinaire, at Costello.davidj@gmail.com!

2. Call for Submissions to ArteHecho Número Uno

As the first show of the season approaching, as is ArteHecho Número Uno (Artefakt, Artefakto, Artificiati, etc.)! We are looking for all sorts of submissions – installation art, live ice sculpting, slam poetry, bag pipes! You name it; we (most likely) want it! We are very much interested in upping our visual art component this year, so don’t be a feared by our dramatic art name.

If you have any questions or want to sign up, please get in touch with Maddie and Harrison at tnc.artifact@gmail.com!

3. TNC (will be) Present(ing)s “Private View”

We value all sorts of students at TNC: whether you write your 5000 word papers 3 hours before they are due or spend 4 weeks outlining your journal responses, we understand that students are different!

For this reason we are letting you early birds know about our October show: Private View! The show will be running from October 10-13 and October 17-19. Written by Václav Havel and brought to you by Gabriela Petrov, Private View explores the way that pursuits, such as food and sex, are ways of solving the nation’s political situation!

Much more will be sent your way! If you have any questions email me (Emily) at tnc.publicity@gmail.com or to reserve those first few coveted seats email the lovely Julie at tnc.foh@gmail.com!

4. Players’ Theatre Presents “Waiting for Godot”

And for the one you have all been waiting for; you must hold your breath for one more night; please keep the reigns tight for 20ish more short hours because Players’ Theatre is Presenting Waiting for Godot!

The show is running this week only from September 26th-29th from 7:30 to whenever you get home. For more info you can check out their Facebook event or if you know you want to go, visit their fancy online reservation system on the Website!

That is all I have to say to you at the moment.

Much love from us – in the small green rectangle – to you!

LISTSERV - A Plethora of Salutations!

Sayin Yetkili, Sirs and Madams! Priya Mademoiselles, Herr unt Frau! Estimat Signora, and members of the TNC Theatre Community!

I hope today’s weather didn’t get you down! I am sure it did not as I know you will all respond like beautiful flowers such as Goat’s Beard and Jack-in-the-Pulpits and sprouted up to soak in the fall showers.

To the agenda!
